Itinerary
Day 1 : Arrive Paro – Thimphu
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by our tour representative who will drive you to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, approximately 55 km away. En route, stop at Chuzom, a cultural site where the Thimphu River and Paro River converge. You'll also visit Tachogang Lhakhang, the Temple of the Excellent Horse, built in honor of Balaha's visit.
In Thimphu, check into your hotel and enjoy some refreshments. In the afternoon, embark on a sightseeing tour starting with Tashichho Dzong, a prominent monastery and seat of Bhutan's government and Chief Abbot's summer residence. Later, explore the local market and crafts bazaar where you can shop for traditional Bhutanese souvenirs like masks, Thangka paintings, and textiles.
Day 2: Thimphu - Punakha
After breakfast, visit Kuensel Phodrang, Buddha Point, home to Bhutan's largest Buddha statue offering panoramic views of the valley. Then, visit King’s Memorial Chorten, a revered pilgrimage site, and Changangkha Lhakhang, an ancient temple offering stunning views of Thimphu Valley. Continue to the Textile Museum to learn about Bhutanese textiles.
After lunch, drive to Punakha via Dochu La Pass, adorned with stupas and prayer flags. Stop at Wangdue Town and explore before reaching Punakha. Check into your hotel and relax.
Day 3: Punakha - Paro
Start the day with a visit to Punakha Dzong, the Palace of Great Happiness, located at the confluence of Phochu and Mochu rivers. Visit Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple, and explore the nearby village of Pana.
Afterward, drive from Punakha to Paro, a scenic journey passing through Douchu La Pass and Paro Town. En route, visit Simtokha Dzong, known for its tantric teachings. Upon arrival in Paro, check into your hotel and enjoy an evening walk through the city center.
Day 4: Paro Sightseeing
After breakfast, embark on a road trip to Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest, perched on a cliff 900m above the valley floor. This iconic monastery is a must-visit in Bhutan.
In the afternoon, visit Ta Dzong, a watchtower converted into the National Museum housing historic artifacts, and then explore Paro Dzong, known for its historical significance and stunning architecture.
Day 5: Paro - Departure
After breakfast, check out from the hotel. Your tour representative will transfer you to Paro International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your memorable Bhutan tour.
