Day 1 : Arrive Paro – Thimphu
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, your journey through Bhutan begins with a scenic road trip to Thimphu, the captivating capital city situated 55 km away. En route, stop at Chuzom, a revered spot where the Paro and Thimphu rivers converge, adorned with three distinct stupas representing Tibetan, Nepalese, and Bhutanese styles.
Arriving in Thimphu, you'll check into your hotel to rest and refresh before embarking on an afternoon of sightseeing. First, visit the iconic Tashichho Dzong, a fortress that serves as the seat of the Chief Abbot and houses the throne room and government offices.
In the evening, explore the bustling main street and market regions of Thimphu, where you can soak in the local culture and shop for traditional crafts and souvenirs.
Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing After breakfast, your exploration of Thimphu continues with a visit to Buddha Point, or Kuensel Phodrang, home to Bhutan’s largest Buddha statue, offering panoramic valley views.
Next, visit the King’s Memorial Chorten, a revered monument for world peace and prosperity, followed by the Textile Museum, showcasing Bhutanese weaving techniques and traditional attire.
After lunch, delve into Bhutan’s rural heritage at the Folk Heritage Museum, and witness traditional arts at the Institute for Zorig Chusum, where students learn Bhutan's 13 traditional crafts.
Round off your day with a visit to the Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s national animal, resembling a cross between a cow and a goat.
Day 3: Thimphu - Paro After breakfast, depart Thimphu for Paro via Simtokha Dzong, an ancient fortress known for tantric education. Upon arrival in Paro, check into your hotel and relax.
Later, visit Ta Dzong, now the National Museum, displaying ancient artifacts, weapons, and Thangka paintings. Then explore Rinpung Dzong, renowned for its architectural beauty and historic significance.
Day 4: Paro Sightseeing Begin the day with an adventurous road trip to Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest, perched on a cliffside 900m above Paro Valley.
In the afternoon, visit Drukgyel Dzong, a 17th-century fortress in ruins, offering stunning views of typical Bhutanese farmhouses and landscapes. En route back to Paro, stop at Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most revered temples.
In the evening, enjoy leisure time in Paro, exploring the city center or indulging in shopping for local handicrafts and souvenirs.
